The Sous Chef of Jamaica Food and Drink Kitchen assists the resident chef in ensuring the team is strongly led, menu planning and events are executed timely and the guest experience is maintained above industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Resident Chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and food preparation.
- Supervise, mentor, and train kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production and high culinary standards.
- Help create and refine menu items for recreational cooking classes, private events, and culinary experiences.
- Collaborate with external local and international chefs to customize menus for special events.
- Ensure all food preparation meets high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and monitor food storage to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all areas meet sanitation standards.
- Support the creation of engaging, hands-on cooking experiences for guests during classes and events.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment that supports a creative and high-energy team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role, preferably in a restaurant, catering, or event-driven environment.
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage, inspire, and motivate a team.
- Ability to create, adapt, and execute diverse menus for a wide variety of events and cooking classes.

-A passion for culinary arts and a desire to foster a fun, educational cooking experience.
-Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
-Ability to speak publicly and lead cooking classes and experiences as needed in the absence of the Resident Chef.
